Reimbursement


The impedance cardiography (ICG) test has a dedicated CPT code (93701) that was issued by the American Medical Association in 2002. CPT code 93701 is reimbursed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and many private insurance companies.

For the CMS-covered indications, click here.

For the CMS-allowable payment for your area, click here and complete the following steps:

  • Click "Accept" at bottom of page
  • Select "Single HCPC Code" and "pricing information" and click "next"
  • Select "Specific locality" and "Default fields" and click "next"
  • Under HCPC, type "93701"
  • Under Modifer, select "global" from the pull down menu
  • Under "Carrier Locality", select your local area from the pull down menu
  • The local CMS-allowable charge for your area will be shown in the column titled "Non-facility price". For patients with traditional Medicare coverage, CMS reimburses 80% of this amount and the patient pays the other 20% (either directly or through secondary insurance).
